Clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians in in Jerusalem on Friday left 11 officers and nine civilians injured.

The unrest happened around the Al-Aqsa mosque and its compound, known as Temple Mount to Jews and Haram al Sharif to Muslims.

The site is sacred to both religions.

Police said they used stun grenades against the demonstrators who threw stones.
