A young Chinese boy - trapped at the bottom of a 12-metre-deep dry well in southwestern China.

The two-year-old had fallen into the well earlier in a small village in Yunnan Province.

Firefighters were able to pull the child to safety.

They used a hose attached to a canister to pump oxygen to the bottom of the well, and later looped a rope to hoist him up.

After failing several times, rescuers lowered a smart phone attached to a rope with scotch tape to give the young boy instructions.

The boy had minor bruises but wasn't seriously hurt.
