Ahar carpets have a beautiful semi-nomadic appearance. These are mostly curvilinear carpets. These rugs normally have a medallion at the center and small medallions inside. The weavers generally use original cotton and the average knot counts are 25 to 80 per square inch.

The quality of Ahar rugs keep on changing from time to time. Old pieces that were prepared before 1945 are of higher quality. Sizes of these rugs are similar to that of Tabriz rugs. However, large rugs of 10 x18 feet are also available. It is always safe to check the borders while buying Ahar rugs.
