An Italian tourist guide has been freed by Maoist rebels in India after almost a month in captivity.

It was believed to be the first time they had kidnapped a foreigner.

Paolo Bosusco and another Italian were seized on March 14 in a remote part of the eastern state of Orissa during a tourist visit to indigenous tribes.
