George Zimmerman, in a dark blue jumpsuit, made his first appearance before a judge on Thursday -- a day after he was charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

During the brief proceeding, the judge set Zimmerman's arraignment for May 29th.

Zimmerman's attorney had initially planned to request bail at the hearing, but ultimately decided against it .... citing the nation-wide uproar caused by the case.
