Syrian Television reported gunfire in Syria's second city of Aleppo on Saturday (April 14) and said armed groups had blockaded the broadcasting building of Syrian Television.
The broadcaster said armed groups had burnt public and private properties in the area and randomly fired bullets. State news showed footage of black smoke billowing into the sky near a mosque and other parts of Aleppo. Images showing fire ripping through the body of a car on the side of a road as locals strolled past were also broadcast.
Syria's state news agency SANA and opposition groups traded blame on Saturday for the gunfire in Aleppo, which wounded three people, according to the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
The Syrian government repeatedly has denied access to journalists, making it impossible to verify reports independently.
