This is known to be the place where Prince of Patiala took panga with Daughter of Viceroy of India and thus the Scandal. Patiala Prince was thrown out of Shimla and he then made another town (with palace) at Chail near Shimla. Automobiles, except emergency vehicles are not allowed on this road. For this reason, the locals — and tourists — are often found strolling on this road in the through the day.
