Major celebrations to mark Earth Day's 40th anniversary are being held around the world this weekend.

And for the first time, the organisers have selected an Arab city in North Africa to host some of the celebrations.

Rabat in Morocco has been chosen because of the country's initiatives to set higher environmental standards and introduce a "Green Tax".

Al Jazeera's Todd Baer reports.
