Yemen's National Day parade in Sana'a is a mournful event, after a bloody suicide attack during rehearsals killed 90 soldiers and wounded more than 200 others.
Yemen's army chief of staff was defiant.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic ) ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF, BRIGADIER AHMAD ALI AL-ASHWAL, SAYING:
"The barbaric and cowardly attack on our fellow fighters in al-Sabaeen Square during the rehearsals took the lives of martyrs. This heinous crime, which is not related to religion or morality, will not intimidate us. It will not deter us from continuing our fight against these evil criminal elements."
President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi attended the event which was organised to celebrate Yemeni unity.
The Al-Qaeda-affiliated group responsible for the attack threatened more violence if a US-backed campaign against militants in Yemen did not stop.
Washington's military efforts in Yemen are controversial, after U.S. drone attacks on militants have resulted in numerous civilian casualties.
