Michael Kohlhaas, a horse dealer, lives in mid-sixteenth century Brandenburg. Business is flourishing until the day an arbitrary authority brutally deprives Kohlhaas of his rights and belongings, leaving him helpless. The costumes, scenography and deliberate overplay do not fail to surprise the audience. To give shape to the utopian chaos of Kleist’s work, the director builds on an increased theatricality.
