It was a night of celebration and laughter.

Queen Elizabeth II went on stage to loud cheers at the end of a star-studded jubilee concert.

The Prince of Wales paid tribute to his "Mummy" in front of Buckingham Palace, and made her laugh.

"And if I may say so, Your Majesty, thank god the weather turned out fine"

Surrounded by her family, it was obvious someone was missing by the Queen's side.

"The only sad thing about this evening is that my father couldn't be here with us. Because unfortunately he is taken unwell. But ladies and gentlemen if we shout loud enough he might just hear us in hospital."

The prince then led the crowd in three cheers for the Queen.

The monarch lit the national jubilee beacon with a crystal "diamond", and once again aroused cheers from the 10,000 strong crowd.

With everyone waving the Union Jack, the night ended with a grand firework display.
