A study has found that more than a third of drugs used to fight malaria in Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa are either of poor quality or simply fake.

Global death rates due to malaria have fallen more than 25 percent in the last 12 years.

But the researchers say this progress will be threatened if unregulated drugs continue to be used.
