Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Yemen president, offered to oversee dialogue between opposition groups and government officials due to civil unrest throughout the country.

The offer came on Sunday after 3,000 university students demonstrated at the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, urging the president to step down from power.
