For one Cedar Hills, Oregon resident, knowing her neighbors turned out to be life saving.
When neighbors had not seen 67 year old Virginia Cartier in a few days, they contacted the police to check on her. Virginia lives alone and typically tells her neighbors when she will be out of town for a few days. No one had seen her and her car was still in the parking lot.
After failed attempts to get in touch with an out of town relative, Washington County Sheriff's department sent officers to her home. They forced their way in and found the senior trapped underneath a dresser. Four days earlier, she had been moving furniture when the dresser fell on top of her.
She had wounds to both of her legs and was in and out of consciousness due to not having any food and water during her 4 day ordeal.
Cartier has since been discharged from the hospital.
