ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION
About 2,000 workers took to the streets of central London on Friday night to transform the road system to bring the Olympic Route Network (ORN) into effect.
The ORN is a requirement of hosting the Olympic Games and allows Games traffic to drive straight to venues without being delayed.
Road markings and traffic lights were changed, while new kerbs and islands were placed on corners to close off traffic lanes in an operation affecting over 100 roads.
(SOUNDBITE)(English) GARRETT EMMERSON, CEO FOR SURFACE TRANSPORT AT TRANSPORT FOR LONDON SAYS:
"Well over the next three days we will be constructing all the physical changes to the road network that will create the Olympic Route Network which will come into operation next week."
