Russian President Vladimir Putin won't be testifying at the hooliganism trial of three female members of the punk band Pussy Riot. A judge has denied their defence lawyer's request.

Charges relate to the women's anti-Putin performance at Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral in February.

They face up to seven years in prison.
