Moscow has a new mayor, following last month's dramatic sacking of the old one.

The Moscow parliament has appointed Sergei Sobyanin, a close aide of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, to the post.

He takes over from long-serving mayor Yuri Luzhkov, who was fired for criticising Russia's leadership.
