A 5.7 magnitude earthquake has struck near the Turkish city of Van, killing several people. It is the second major quake to hit the region in less than a month.
The collapse of two hotels. and nearly two dozen other buildings, has raised questions as to why a comprehensive assessment of the region's structural safety has not been made in the weeks following the October 23 earthquake.
