President marks Salvadoran civil war with apology

A truth commission after the internal conflict blamed most civilian deaths on the military government but very few cases have actually made it to court.

Twenty years later, El Salvador is still struggling to recover from the conflict that nearly tore it apart.

The village of El Mozote is the site of one of the worst massacres, and it is from there where the Mauricio Funes, the country's president, issue an apology for the conflict.

But is it enough to heal the wounds that run deep among his people?
