Thousands of angry protesters delayed a shipment of nuclear waste arriving at a dumping site in Germany last November.

Now, authorities there are considering using the site for long-term nuclear waste storage, but anti-nuclear campaigners say alarming cancer statistics at a site in the same region should serve as a warning.
