Capital Christian Center: Special Guest - Nancy Alcorn of Mercy Ministries

Nancy Alcorn: Thank you. I’m so honored to be here with Pastors Rick and Cathy Cole and to be a part of this great church here this morning. Anytime a pastor honors, particularly a woman, with their pulpit, it is special. Right, girls? So, hey, I don’t take it lightly. I’m really thankful.
I wanted you to see a little glimpse of what we’re going to be doing at Mercy Ministries, which is why I wanted to show that DVD. We’re going to be doing it right here in your city. That home is going up right now. We’re just so excited about it. The cool thing is, we’ve been having to fly California girls and girls from the West Coast all the way to either Nashville or St. Louis or Louisiana. We’re not going to have to do that anymore because we’re going to have a Mercy Ministries place right here where girls can come and get the help they need. It’s just so beautiful.
I’ve been told this morning, and I got to hug a few of them, that in this service (we had several girls in the earlier service) we have seven former (that I know of right now—maybe more) Mercy Ministries residents in this service this morning right here from your area. Isn’t that great? I wanted to tell you girls to please come up afterwards so I can give you a hug and we can connect with you. Unless you have to be at work and you’re going to get in trouble with your boss stay so we can catch up, okay?
Very quickly I want to introduce someone who is with me. She has actually been serving as our Development Director for this area. She is in and out of here all the time. Selah Hirsch, and her husband Michael, worked at the LA Dream Center for two or three years with Pastors Tommy and Matthew Barnett. They’re also both graduates of Oral Roberts University.
They came back to St. Louis to work with Joyce Meyer and the Dream Center there. Joyce is one of our Mercy Ministries supporters. Selah came to me and was like God has put Mercy Ministries on my heart and I really think I’m supposed to be working for you guys. I said, “I’m not touching that one. You’re going to have to go talk to Joyce about that. I don’t steal other people’s staff but I do want to do the will of God.”
She went and shared her heart with her supervisor and said, “My heart is really there.” So Joyce called me and she said, “We’re going to release Selah to you. The way I look at it is why would we want to keep her if her heart is with you?” Only Joyce can say things that way, you know?
Really and truly, Joyce Meyer has been one of our strongest Mercy Ministries supporters because she was sexually abused as a little girl. Many of you know her story. She started supporting Mercy Ministries. At the present time, her ministry gives Mercy Ministries $35,000 every month to help us do what we do.....
