With 20 days left before Mexico votes for president, the country looks poised for a power shake-up

Josefina Vazquez Mota, the National Action Party's choice to succeed President Felipe Calderon, went on the attack against her better-polling rivals in the race's final debate on Sunday night but remains 18 percentage points behind front-runner Enrique Pena Nieto in opinion polls.

Though Vazquez Mota sought to tie Pena Nieto to his party's chequered 71-year rule over Mexican politics - which ended with the PAN's rise in 2000 - the Pena Nieto appears set to take his Institutional Revolution Party back into the presidency.

Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports from Mexico City.
