Norway's outgoing police chief Oystein Maeland has been replaced.

He resigned on Thursday after a report said mass killer Anders Breivik could have been stopped.

It found the Oslo bombing could have been prevented, and the number of victims on Utoya island reduced.

The new chief, Odd Reidar Humlegaard, currently head of the crime division, will be charged with overhauling security.
