Mustafa Abdel Jalil, the head of Libya's rebel council, has denied the Libyan government's allegation that al-Qaeda was involved in the death of the rebels' top general.

Jalil says that Abdel Fattah Younes, the general in question, was killed by two unidentified gunmen, and that investigations are underway to determine their identities and motivations.
