Large parts of Pakistan have been affected by power blackouts due to an electricity crisis.

This has led to a shortage of more than 7,000 megawatts - this is almost 40 per cent of the total demand.

The outages have almost crippled normal everyday life for many people and particularly hit industrial and agricultural production.

Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports from Rawalpindi.
