The US Postal Service, with a staff of more than half a million members is the world's seventh largest employer but one that still struggles to remain relevant in an increasingly digital age.
The home of 'snail mail' faces a myriad of problems including economic recessions, a slump in mail volume, the Internet and major prefunding of its retirees' health benefits are forcing it to cut services, facilities and jobs.
