With foreign journalists not allowed to report from Syria, citizen journalists in that country have been coming into their own to help get information about the anti-government uprising out.

Rami al-Jarrah, a Syrian political activist and blogger who fled the country after having been arrested and tortured by security forces, has been helping train these activists.

He speaks to Al Jazeera about his experience in Syrian prison and his work with citizen journalists.
