The timing of the Dalai Lama's speaking tour in India may not be altogether coincidental.
It overlaps with the Chinese Defence Minister's visit to the country to hold talks with Prime Minister Singh.
The Tibetan spiritual leader -- whose asylum in India in 1959 created tensions with China -- has allegedly accused that country of "cultural genocide".
China has ruled Tibet since 1950 and the Dalai Lama's teaching seminars may be seen as a form of protest.
More direct in their objection against Chinese control was a group of Tibetan ex pats in New Delhi.
They staged a protest outside Prime Minister Singh's residence while the leader met with minister Liang Guanglie.
It's been eight years since a Chinese defence minster visited India.
