Hospital staff are working overtime to treat the some 800 people injured after a pair of deadly earthquakes struck southwest China Friday.
At least 80 people are confirmed dead, but that number is expected to rise as the quakes hit a remote region of the country with poor infrastructure and telecommunications, local media say.
Drinking water and relief supplies are being sent to the region.
Some of the 740,000 people affected from the double quakes are living in tent cities erected by the local governments.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited some of the victims late Friday.
The quakes, registering 5.6 and 5.7 respectively, caused landslides and falling rocks which added to the damages.
Officials say economic losses could reach more than 500 million dollars.
