Pole Dancing Classes for Kids Stirs Controversy - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Children and pole dancing? Definitely not your standard kids sport activity, but a few fitness studios throughout Canada are now offering classes.

Kristy Craig, owner of Vancouver Island’s Twisted Grip Dance and Fitness Studio, is offering a child’s pole dancing class called Little Spinner’s.

Claiming that her adult students having been asking for such a course for their children, Craig says, "There is nothing provocative. There is nothing sexual about it. It's pure fitness and strength and fun. I mean kids love climbing trees. They will climb anything."

Twisted Grip is not the first studio to teach gradeschoolers how to pole dance. In 2010, Tantra Fitness in Vancouver made news when they began offering minors to join classes with parental permission.

It has also been reported that a trend has started throughout the United Kingdom and that children as young as three years old were being taught pole fitness routines in England and Scotland.

Some child psychologists are concerned this may encourage girls to follow a pole dancing career.

What do you think? Would you allow your child to take a pole dancing class?
