Right now you're looking at the end of Monique Lhuiller's successful runway show.

But let's rewind to ten days earlier, as the designer documents her journey to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.

It all began 3 months ago after being inspired during a recent vacation.

NATSOUND: "It all started from this photograph, a trip that I took - that's from Turkey."

Armed with a flip camera, Lhuillier films final touches being made on various gowns she affectionately called beauties.

With 17 years of design experience, Lhuillier says the workflow has stayed the same.

SOUNDBITE: Monique Lhuillier, designer, saying:

"The show prep is the same, but the collections have become more complex and the teams have become bigger, so there's a lot more to juggle."

And if prepping for fashion week isn't enough, the veteran is simultaneously preparing her bridal line, fine jewelry collection and the opening a new Manhattan store.

NATSOUND: "Guys are suspended up in the air adjusting the lights. I'm telling you, it takes a village to put this show together, it's a big collaboration and a work of art."

Now we're back at show day and Lhuillier appears to be stress free and ready.

However, during a pre-show interview, she revealed what's really going on inside.

SOUNDBITE: Monique Lhuillier, designer, saying:

"Right before the show starts I have all these butterflies that, you know, flood my tummy and when it's happening those 12 minutes seem like the longest 12 minutes because it's a live show and I'm wondering what's going happen. But at the same time that's also excitement and just showing the passion and I really want it to be right after I've been working on this collection for the last three months so intensely. So I'm excited to show it and have it, you know, be the best it can be."
