This is the compound that housed the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, the morning after deadly attacks.

On Tuesday protesters stormed the consular building - denouncing a U.S.-made film as insulting to the Prophet Mohammad.

This assault, and two attacks by militants that followed, left four Americans dead.

Among them was the U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens, seen here in a U.S. State Department video made before his departure to Libya.

His killing has been condemned by both U.S. President Barack Obama and Libyan leaders.

There's some confusion over the film which is now enraging Muslims in Egypt, Libya, and elswhere.

While controversial U.S. Pastor Terry Jones, who created anger with plans to burn a Koran, said he had promoted a film about Muslims --

-- clips of another film have been circulating online protraying Mohammad as a fool, a philanderer and a religious fake.

Any depiction of the Prophet is considered offensive by most Muslims.
