Demonstrators angry over an anti-Islamic film break through. The also attacked the British mission Some set fires.

It is unclear why the two European embassies were singled out since the film was made in the United States.

"When they insult our belief, our religion under the slogan of freedom and democracy, we say to hell with freedom and democracy when it touches the religions and faiths or people."

Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has been under pressure from Islamists who feel the government has given up the religious values of his 1989 Islamist coup.

The protesters later moved towards the US embassy where they were engaged in a standoff with police.
