Man Finds Live Grenade in Lake During Fishing - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Fishing is typically a relaxing activity - even if you don't catch anything, it's nice to be just out there. However, every now and then, you come across something so unexpected that you remember for years to come.

Matt Tucker experienced such an event when during his fishing trip, he pulled a vietnam-era live hand grenade inside a sock.

He was fishing at Fellows Lake in Springfield, Missouri.

Upon its discovery, Tucker immediately called security. The highway was closed for a brief period and the grenade was x-rayed by the Springfield Fire Department bomb squad for further examination.

Staff Sergeant Garrett Herbert commented - “The pin was still in it." “Based on the X-rays we saw, I’m going to call it armed".

After its retrieval, the grenade was eventually put inside a box and sent to a bomb disposal location.

In a yet another unexpected find, earlier this year, a processing plant in Greece found two grenades in a German potato shipment during unpacking.

The first discovery was made during the washing stage when a strange sound was found but fortunately the grenade didn't have a detonator.
