Over the past 15 years, the Ogaden area has been ravaged by conflict, that's killed thousands of people.
The region borders Djibouti, Kenya, and Somalia and many of its residents are ethnic Somali and Muslim.
In 2007, Ethiopian forces waged an offensive against the rebel Ogaden National Liberation Front.
But recently, the government held peace talks with the ONLF in Kenya – another meeting is expected in the coming months.
