At least 27 people have been killed in flash floods that swept away parts of Northern Sikkim along the Lachen river. Nine landslides have also been reported on the national highway between Chungthang and Mangan. Rescue operations are currently underway but are being hampered on account of the incessant rains. Meanwhile, the situation in Assam is no different as the state grapples with flash floods for the fourth consecutive day.
