Violence in Syria has torn apart thousands of families.

Al Jazeera has been following the trauma suffered by one such family from Idlib province.

Four-year-old Maram has been left paralysed from the waist down. Her father has been arrested, and her grandfather and uncle have been killed.

She is now in hospital on the Turkish-Syrian border, from where Andrew Simmons filed this exclusive report after visiting Maram's family home in Idlib.
