The Mumbai rains couldn't play spoilsport for the 3rd Global Indian Music Awards(GIMA) held at Yashraj
Studios on Monday.
Though shutterbugs were drenched outside the auditorium of the studio, the Bollywood swish set turned up
to honour the best and most popular of the music fraternity.
Hosts of the evening were Saif Ali Khan and Parineeti Chopra , and the guest list included Shah Rukh Khan,
Ajay Devgn, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Ayushmann Khurrana, Himesh Reshammiya, Nargis Fakhri
and Vivek Oberoi.
Among highlights of the evening was Ajay Devgn taking to the stage to perform with Sonakshi. There was a
special tribute act dedicated A.R. Rahman to toast his completion of 20 years in the industry.
He was felicitated by Yash Chopra and singers such as Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Niigaam, Alka Yagnik, Hariharan
and Udit Narayan belted out some of his biggest hits.
There was a standing ovation for classical music veterans Girija Devi and Pandit Jasraj when they took to stage
to collect the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Global Indian Musician Award respectively. Rockstar won
six GIMAs in the film category.
Ayushmann Khurrana along with composer Rochak Kohli won the award for Hottest Song of the Year, for the
Vicky Donor number Paani da rang. Bappi Lahiri won the award for Most Popular Song on Radio for Ooh la la
from The Dirty Picture.
