Penn State's Sandusky gets 30-60 years prison for child abuse

Serial child molester Jerry Sandusky, a former Pennsylvania State University football coach arrives in court Tuesday for sentencing.

The court sentenced him to 30 to 60 years in prison for abusing young, at-risk boys for more than a decade. Deputy Attorney General Joe McGettigan

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL, JOE McGETTIGAN SAYING:

"I believe the sentence that the court imposed today was a wise and proper one, and that it reflected the seriousness of the defendants crimes.

Sandusky was convicted on 45 counts of child sex abuse for molesting 10 boys over 15 years, some in the football team's showers on campus.

Defense Attorney Joe Amendola had a different reading on the verdict.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEFENSE ATTORNEY, JOE AMENDOLA, SAYING:

"We believe had we had the time, that we would have had an opportunity to prove Jerry's innocence."

The 68-year old could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
