Extremism and terrorism are threatening the present and future
well-being of Pakistan and Afghanistan: President Karzai
In a letter to the Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain, the Afghan President Mr Hamid Karzai has said that the evils of extremism and terrorism were big threats for the present and future well-being of Pakistan and Afghanistan hence a co-ordinated and collaborative action would have to be taken by the two countries.
President Karzai condemned the inhuman and heinous attempt on the life of Malala Yousuf zai and her fellow students and prayed for their health and speedy recovery. “We must ask why we have been unable to counter the terrorism that is attacking our religion, our people and the promise of a better future for our children.”
President Karzai said that the dastardly attack on Malala and similar attacks on Afghan and Pakistani children and schools were strategy “pursued by the extremists and terrorists to doom our future generation to darkness and ignorance. We must fight this.”
He said that he was “reaching out to our brothers and sisters across the political and religious landscape of Pakistan to work with us to guarantee that our children –girls and boys- realize their duty to follow the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in acquiring knowledge and learning.”
President Karzai hoped that Mr Altaf Hussain would give “a positive response” as a leader the leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) to his “invitation for co-ordinated and collaborative action” between Afghanistan and Pakistan against the evils of extremism and terrorism that were threatening the future and present well-being of both the countries.
