The Blackberrys Sharp nights – Director’s Cut event at Tote in Mumbai on Wednesday had Bollywood’s favourite directors dressed in their sharpest best. Wearing Blackberrys suits with cravats, waistcoats and lapel pins, Imtiaz Ali, Madhur Bhandarkar, Kunal Kohli and Rohit Shetty stepped out from behind the camera, into the limelight and walked the ramp.

We caught up with the foursome and got them talking about getting in trouble with their wives, losing out to piracy and the casting couch. Here are some brief highlights of what they had to say:

Kunal Kohli: "A film set is the happiest place in the world. I’m more at home at a film set than at home. Something none of our wives can understand. I hope I die on a film set. Like Raj Kapoor said, jeena yahan, marna yahaan."

Madhur Bhandarkar: "Bollywood is nowhere near its potential. We may make a 100 crore on one film through 5-6 states, but the amount we lose to piracy is staggering. Tamil Nadu makes a 100 crore through one state. That’s where Bollywood should be aspiring to be."

Imtiaz Ali: "I came into the industry expecting star tantrums and a casting couch, but found absolutely none of it. I was quite disappointed, especially with the latter…"
