Me playing the organ at St Mary's Parish Church in the village of Northill situated a few miles from Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.

The organ was originally built in 1923 by the John Compton Organ Company Ltd to replace a previous instrument and was a gift from the vicar at the time to give thanks that both his sons survived world war one. Originally the organs action was powered by battery but this was replaced by a mains electricity supply in 1934. In 1949 the hand blower was replaced by an electric blower. Since then the organ has been restored and new action fitted as well as a new blower but remains essentially as built and is a now a rare example of a Compton organ from an early period. As expected with a Compton, the extension principal is used and consists of 5 ranks of pipes fully enclosed with the exception of some bass pipes. The specification reads:

For this first video, im playing the hymn 'O worship the King, all-glorious above' to the tune 'Hanover' which demonstrates the organs ability at accompanying congregational hymn singing.

Many thanks to the church officials for inviting me here to play this fine instrument.

NOTE: this is purely my interest in order to make sure that these fine organs are archived forever and I do not make any monetary profit by this video being on dailymotion.
