Italian students riot, protest German official's visit

This is what anger over high unemployment looks like (protesters hurling things) A crowd of 3,000 Italians, the majority of them students, protested in Naples outside of a meeting between their foreign minister and her German counterpart.

Police used tear gas to try and disperse the angry mob. Many here are furious over austerity measures they believe will cause their quality of life to plummet even further.

Italy is in the midst of deep recession and unemployment is in the neighborhood of 35 percent.

Police say two people were briefly detained. No injuries were reported.
