UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is to visit Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Ramallah this week for talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the crisis in Gaza.

Ban met the Arab league chief, Nabil al-Arabi, and called on to support Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's efforts to mediate a truce in the conflict as the Palestinian death toll from Israeli raids had increased to more than 100.
