Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) organized peaceful demonstrations and prayer meetings in Karachi to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and against the Israeli aggression. Protesters were also carrying placards and banners denouncing suicide bomb blasts in the country. A large number of people hailing from different spheres of life participated in the demonstrations against the Israeli aggression after the Friday prayers outside various mosques.
The main demonstration and prayer meeting was held before the Madni Masjid adjacent to Jinnah Ground near the MQM Head Office Nine Zero. Protesters were carrying placards and banners condemning the Israeli aggression on Gaza and suicide bomb blasts in Pakistan. Deputy Conveners of the Co-ordination Committee Mr Anis Ahmed Qaimkhani, Dr Nusrat Shaukat along with other members of the committee were present. MQM MNAs, MPAs, and ministers also took part in the demonstration.
Talking to the participants, member of the Co-ordination Committee Mr Wasim Aftab said it had become evident that Mr Altaf Hussain, the founder and leader of the MQM, supported all the oppressed people in the world. “How can someone who raises a forceful voice in support of non-Muslims remain silent on the injustices against Muslims?”
“We want to give a message to the people of Palestine that they should not consider themselves alone. If the massacre of the Palestinian people did not stop, the people of Pakistan will start strong protests against Israel on the call of Mr Hussain.”
“There is no reason for the United Nations to exist if it cannot stop injustices against Muslims. The UN must bring a change in its outlook and restrain Israel from committing gross injustices on the people of Palestine.”
Mr Aftab strongly condemned the recent bomb blasts in the country and prayed for the people who lost their lives and the speedy recovery of the injured. “Time has come for the people of Pakistan to decide as no one can be allowed to foist their opinions on others by carrying out suicide blasts.”
“We must get united in order to eradicate the scourge of sectarianism from the country.”
Mr Aftab praised the Rangers and Police for timely actions in foiling a number of bomb blasts.
In the end, president of Muttahida Bainul Muslimeen Forum offered prayers for the people who died in the Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. He also offered prayers for the security and integrity of the country and long life and good health of Mr Hussain.
