An alleged drunk driver hits a pedestrian and drives more than 2 miles with him on the car's windshield.
Driving while intoxicated poses a long list of dangers. But one recent and disturbing report details how horrific it can actually be.
A pedestrian in Torrance, California, 31-year-old, Philip Moreno was hit by an alleged drunk driver. The vehicle operator, 51-year-old Sherri Wilkins reportedly continued driving for more than two miles with Moreno on the windshield of her car.
Several witnesses were reportedly able to get Wilkins to stop her vehicle. Moreno was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, and Wilkins was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and manslaughter.
Wilkins told police that she had been driving home from work, however her blood alcohol content was approximately twice the legal limit. Last year, a similar incident occurred in Texas.
A 49-year-old male driver was accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing him to fatally strike a 32-year-old man. The victim crashed through the windshield, landing on the passenger’s seat after getting hit.
The driver did not stop. He later told officers he knew he hit something but didn’t realize that a body was next to him in the vehicle.
