A British man breaks a world record by traveling through 201 countries without flying.

Some people give the word ‘adventurous’ a whole new meaning. Take one British man, Graham Hughes who recently completed his journey, venturing through 201 countries without ever getting on an aircraft.

His adventure began on January 1st 2009 and ended on November 26, 2012, taking a total of 1,426 days to complete. The last country was South Sudan.

Dubbed ‘The Odyssey Expedition’, he only used public transportation to enter all of the 193 United Nations member states along with Kosovo, Taiwan, Vatican City, Western Sahara and the Palestinian territory.

Hughes now holds a Guinness Record, becoming the first person to have entered every sovereign state on the planet without hopping on a plane.

And he is not stopping yet, as he plans to visit Africa and venture across Europe without flying. He hopes to return home, to Liverpool by Christmas.

Earlier this year, another man became famous for his alternative traveling methods, using only his feet. 51-year-old runner, Tom Denniss from Australia set out to cover 18000 miles for a run around the world. The journey would entail 700 marathons in 700 days.
