Palmdale parking officials are handing out gift cards instead of tickets for considerate parking jobs.
Remember the last time you were thrilled to get a parking citation? Never - right?
However, in Palmdale, California, parking officers have handed out good citations to considerate drivers, or more specifically parkers.
Officials will give citations to people who park perfectly in a legal spot. The good tickets contain a gift card to a local restaurant, or a voucher from The Body Shop store in a nearby mall.
The good parkers will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of five parking passes in the Santa Monica area. The parking reward program began last year, only during the month of December.
A parking enforcement supervisor states “we wanted to put through a plan for the community that is positive for both our staff and public to help maximize the parking spaces during the busiest shopping time of the year."
In a similar report, a retiring police captain in Seattle decided to hand out giftcards instead of tickets this year. The captain along with a department secretary attempted to use the crosswalk.
Every driver who stopped and allowed them to cross was handed a $10 gift card to a local restaurant.
