ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Torrential rains wreaked havoc in the central Amazon region of Peru on Wednesday, displacing hundreds of families, while also devastating local crops and demolishing public infrastructure.
Overflowing flowing river waters uprooted trees and inundated roads, forcing some residents to abandon their riverside homes in search of higher ground.
While people struggled to salvage their belongings, the abrupt and forceful nature of the rains left many with no other option but to head for safety.
Although there were no reports of injuries, three people were reported missing as a result of the storm.
