The Greek Orthodox clergymen in Bethlehem held their Christmas midnight mass on Monday (January 7) at the Church of Nativity, which Christian faith pegs as the birth place of Jesus.
The mass was attended by Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas who sat with Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theofilos III during the initial stages of the mass.
The Church was also attended by worshippers who lit candles and listened to readings.
The Eastern churches include the ancient Assyrian Church, the Greek Orthodox, Armenian and the Coptic Church.
The Church of the Nativity is shared by the Eastern denominations and the Catholic Church.
